It would not be up to someone else to decide if they can be resuscitated or not. If they do not have a DNR signed then they have to be resuscitated. It sounds like prisoners, like everyone else, have to sign a DNR form if they do not want to be resuscitated. Henderson issued an order earlier this week clarifying the situation for prisoners and prison officials trying to balance "inmate-patient autonomy" with "security and safety concerns." Inmates that are "at risk of near-term death or great bodily injury," and have not "executed a valid 'do not resuscitate' directive", may be force fed.
